Geology
Walloon Coal Measures of Middle Jurassic age with a regional dip of
approximately 3 degrees to the south and southeast. A total of forty
coal seams are worked: Amberley series seams 3 to 7, present in the
southeastern portion of the mine area; and the Jeebropilly series
seams A- A3, B1- B3, C - C1, & D1 - D4 which are present in the
northern & western portions of the mine area. A series of north
northwest trending normal faults & less prominent east - west
trending faults also occur in the mine area.
Mining Method Open-cut using excavators, front end loaders and trucks for
overburden removal. The areas being mined include Jeebropilly,
Jeebropilly North, Smithfield and Thagoona

Preparation plant Jig, classifying cyclones, dense medium cyclones and spirals
Product Coals High volatile thermal coal; the coals are washed and blended to
produce a range of products under the Tivoli brand name suitable for
export and for domestic power generation. The processed coal
exhibits very low pollutant levels, typical of Walloon coals

Jeebropilly mine production was scaled down from the end of 2002, due to start-up at the New Acland mine, and expanded output
from the nearby New Oakleigh coal mining operations
